I'm new(ish) and usually just stick to violas and sunflowers every year. This year would love to try some different easy and pretty flowers, or easy veg please?
I have some sweet peas of mixed variety spare to be used by end of this year and also violas saved from flowers last year.
Oh Rosie31 that's good to hear I actually like the look of the hardy bananna trees but haven't got round to getting one ever since I saw a Musa of some sort in Spain
We've got a banana that is doing pretty well - we've finally (after seven years) figured out the best way to protect it without it rotting! For a couple of years it died back to nothing over winter but it still came back in the spring.
The dahlias are not strictly tropical but they do look good - especially the dark leaved ones with bright orange or red flowers.
I've done ricinus communatis from seed each year too, they are great! But not this year because we've got a dog now and I can't risk anything that poisonous round him (labrador, will eat anything).
i think this year I'm going to try some of those exotic-looking annual climbers, put up a few obelisks and see what they look like peering out among the cannas...

Hi Charlie ,Danielle etc I'm new on here to its brilliant idea
One of my flower beds has a 'tropical' theme.... so I like the 'easy' exotic look, like cannas gingers, dahlias..... any other suggestions?
