I usually go for Arthur J Bowers or Murphys but have been disappointed over the last couple of years so this year I went for Jacks Magic and it's wonderful. Like luxury compost! Lovely and thin with no great bits of wood chip or unidentifiable chunks. £6.99 for two sixty litre bags.

I live in Penryn, Kernow and so am lucky enough to be near a Trago Mills. I buy the 120L bags of Hortons mp compost for between £5-£6. Its great, it does everything I need it too at a good price. I'd recommend it image

Bought my years supply of New Horizons grow bags and compost yesterday. Lovely getting your hands into nice fresh compost. Have been very happy with the brand for several years now. Good price too, always seems to be on offer. I have not seen any foreign bodies to date.

Been unimpressed with every compost for the last couple of years.

Even new horizon organic seemed a bit rubbish with a slightly medicinal aroma.

Will give this magic jack a try!

I've used New Horizon for years, does the job. The second batch this year was woodier, with a pine resin smell. I guess it depends what goes in the municipal garden waste bins. Anyway, all my plants have grown well. I bought some peat free from Aldi, it's very dark, a few twigs but a pretty good texture.

Even my different brands of seed compost has been 50% useless.

Sieve out the big bits and there's not much to actually use
