Yea I know it is very tedious, as everyone has problems with it. I have a wildlife garden so I don't want to use anything that deters hedgehogs. The citrus doesn't seem to bother the hedgehogs and so this is the best approach for me but it is also very infuriating and not very pleasant to go around collecting cat poo all the time.
Sorry jane - Hosta is one of the regular forum members. I expect if you paid him enough he'll come and get rid of the cats for you!
It's a hugely contentious subject, and attracts a few 'stirrers'. You just joined the debate at an awkward moment. Many of us have the same issues with cats - myself included- but there are as many cat lovers as haters (who get very irate) so we tend to avoid this thread as much as possible
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Ah I see - thank you for letting me know. I can see why this is an ongoing and contentious issue. It is not that I hate cats per se, I just don't want them pooing in my garden. I won't bring it up again then lol!! I was just desperate after today!
I can't see how not wanting numerous large piles of excrement in the garden makes me a cat hater. It really is disgusting and makes the garden almost a no go area. The scarers do mostly work.,

You pin him down on Friday Lyn, I'll go through his pockets - we'll spend it at the nearest garden centre
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Sorry I am new to this site and wanted to find out how other gardeners dealt with common problems - what is the hosta thing - do they deter cats?
