Thanks busy and topbird just couldn't get my head around the currency must be my age.
Darkstar welcome to the forum - has anyone warned you though, that it comes with a health and safety warning : if your not crackers now , you will be -!
In those days before the fridge we used to make ice lollies during freezing winters by leaving a half cup of water ,with a already used. , but boiled wooden lolly stick or a spoon and covered with a clean hankie on the step out in the back garden. Our first homemade lollies were fantastic , or so we thought!
And if you had a penny. Then..............
My other recollection of early day iced treats from the corner shop were a penny ice cube in believe it or now one of those kite shaped paper bags .sometimes they were dandilion and. Burdock flavour. It soon melted your hand got wet but what the 'hell!
I was a bit late for our get together rave but include me in the next, I'm going to start making me ice cubes before I turn in.does everyone like dandilion and Burdock?
Just one more thing I was going to add , about the bread and butter with tinned pears.it was during the potato fammin ( the season potatoes didn't grow due to weather conditions - in our house anyways) so on a Sunday we had tinned pears but we had to eat a slice of bread and butter with them to fill us up .then it was sugar sandwiches for tea later on. Yukki
Right just off - I'll pick up some volly cases - bring your own filling - think I have a Frey Bentos pie in the cupboard actually . I'll pick up a Sara Lee BF gateaux for Bekkie & anything else I think of while I'm out.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
In the kitchen making brekkie, though of a couple of things to add to my online grocery shop, went in to the living room to get my phone- forgot what i wanted to add to the list!
What was that thing about always washing on a Monday, or was that just where I lived.
Spent many a drunken night on brandy and babycham in my youth. No drink driving laws either, dont know how me and hubby survived, although he always prefered brown and mild with Brandy chasers.
I hardly drink at all now apart from the odd glass of wine so hopefully my liver will have recovered.
By the way Ive still got a bottle of unopened babycham and the glass with the bambi on.

I can recommend moving to a house with lots of stairs.
Ours is tall & narrow, 24 stairs from bedroom to kitchen. Improves your fitness or your memory...
Now where did I see my phone??
Have also washed a phone that was in a pocket, countless earphones and one or two memory sticks! Shhh dont tell OH
I can however say that when washed on a low temp, sunflower seeds germinate and can be found growing at the bottom of the washing basket!
I used to love it when the school milk was frozen. Pretended that it was icecream.
Does anyone remember when we were paid to collect rose hips? I got a badge for collecting over 20lb. I think we got 5 old pence a pound.
