    David K wrote (see)

Not a quote as such, but the quote of a poem......from 'Carve her name with pride'.

    "The life that I have
    Is all that I have
And the life that I have
    Is yours

    The love that I have
Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours

    A sleep I shall have
    A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause

For the peace of my years
    In the long green grass
    Will be yours and yours
    and yours

Talking of cracking up - Deborough Kerr, a spoken song on her album 'Send in the Clowns'. Powerful.

  • Another little sonnet to add a little joviality to the thread.

"Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.

    Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die."

That's a beautiful poem David, if a little sad

  • Sorry, OL image  Even if it's a tad morbid, I still think there is something (as you say) beautiful about it.

Yes David, it is, sorry I put my last post on very quickly.....the rice was boiling over image I seem to vaguely remember studying it for English Lit but I thought it was written by a war poet and it isn't so maybe not.
