    The trick is  wide pots, gritty compost, grit on top. Sprinkle the seeds on top of that. It imitates a gravel path and works well for small seeds.

    Larger seeds won't fall though the grit so they have to be sown before the grit goes on

    Good point nutimage  I'd love instructions just to let me know I'm doing the right thing for the seed/plant.

    Has everyone got Hollyhocks? Because I'm knee-deep in seeds,they come up like weeds here.

    They don't last here because of rust but I love them
