We went to Christopher Lloyd's garden, Great Dixter, last year in June. It was gorgeous, probably my favourite garden of the perennials sort. http://www.greatdixter.co.uk/  David Austin's is my favourite rose garden. Don't think Great Dixter has roses. It's in Northiam, East Sussex. We have a flat in Eastbourne so it's not too hard for us to visit.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I love Gt Dixter - we visited in late summer which was a fabulous time to see the plantings - I still enjoy looking at the photos I took (pre digital days so it was that long ago - must be about 15 years ago - time to go again image

The house is well worth a visit too!

    "Mystery shopper visits"

What the paying  punter sees, on an incognito visit, as opposed to what the photojurnalist is shown on a pre arranged visit.  It could catch on....

We have a team, ready and able, Daniel......

Yeys! Great idea Fidget! Can I be the "novice says" reviewer?

Definitely up for Beth Chatto but suspect I'll be a pain in the wotsit about dates. Won't feel hurt if you go for a date I can't do, but can I kick off the suggestions? How about Sunday 10th august?

    I think I could do that ...............
