I have discovered that Monarda is not deer-proof--luckily it is in a pot, so I will move it inside the fence. Must admit, I had my doubts--but it will recover. Deer aren't desperate yet--they just pruned it a bit.

Dean Lovett, I think your bug is a Shield bug. I have seen green ones and very dark ones but not that colour, but it looks the same. They dont cause any damage, so a friend.

Gardeningfantic I do not think there is a yellow cranesbill.

Bought two lillies today, one pink one yellow. Only went to Morrisons to get milk ! They were only ??1 each and look really healthy with lots of buds. Have planted them in pots

oh right.. would love a yellow one.. but still.. i have a pale pink one.. and.. well actually the same 2 you have in your top picture cranesbill.. thou blue one is more deep blue.. mum said hers is like yours and they came form same plant when split..wonder if it is the soil that does slight change in colour.image

i also have a white/blue/violet one.. it is strange.. some flowers are white with blue stripes and some are half white petals and half violet petals and some are just white.. will get a picture of it and if i can upload i will put it on..thou dont hold your breaths.. the damn computer is being stubborn and wont do it if it doesnt feel like itimage

Thanks, Wintersong--at this time of year, it's a bit of a wilderness--but I quite like it this way!!
