So how many techie geeky blokes did it take to do that? Pity they didn't do something useful like work out how to stop the top bit of the page collapsing on to the next bit down and making it impossible to read.
Must say I've not noticed the site running slow today ??? Strange. Haven't noticed any changes either . Story of my life - not paying attention.
Becks - love the terminology !!
How sad about the canaries, Flo.
Hi Caz.
Well, I've turned the heating right down and it still feels warm in here even though we have a heavy frost here already. Everywhere is white. Glad I've sorted my sambucus out and brought it in, Covered car as I have an early morning outing to docs in morning. My long awaited B12 injection ! Yay By the time this weeks out I'll have had a full M.O.T. Weds - flu jab. Thurs- Dentist. Fri - Free day !
Jean, glad to hear you're getting sorted - and retaining heat!!
I was also wondering how Kate got on.
Geoff, in the past when I've tried Firefox I've found it inclined to crash and be a pain, that was with XP, though. Do you reckon it's worth a try with Windows 7?
Strange we haven't heard from Kate. Maybe she was exhausted. Schools these days are not what they used to be. In my day children were relatively well behaved. But I've seen programs about modern kids on TV. Many schools these days are like ZOOs. The kids are worse than wild animals. And the teachers are not allowed to tell them off.
I always come on first thing, 6/7am, when the internet should not be experiencing much load, and so running at its fastest. Yesterday (Monday) at 6am the site was taking more than 5 minutes to load the Latest Posts page. I gave up and came back an hour later. I wondered if they were doing some maintenance.
Later in the day it was also slow, but nothing like as bad, more sluggish. I noticed a message at the bottom of the screen 'waiting for ....' and there was the name of some advertising website. But more often it said waiting for www.gardenersworld.com.
Maybe someone in the GW office was standing on the cable, or needed to put some sewing machine oil on their laptop.
I use Firefox. I don't think the browser makes a lot of difference. Because, just using Firefox, the site runs fast some time, and very very slow at other times. It's not the browser.
Just for the record (and I might start keeping a record), at 6am this morning, the time to load the Latest Posts page was 3692 milliseconds exactly. Let's call that 4 seconds.
I always have a peep at the BBC weather forecast first thing too. Their page was taking more than 5 seconds to load, so the BBC site was slower.
Google News, which has a lot of detail on it, was taking just over 1 second.
A bright morning forecast, then rain all afternoon, but no more frost for the rest of the week.

Wonder how Kate got on today ?
I had to switch to IE today for a time today Flo-and the view on this site was very annoying.
Jean-when is the electric going off again?
That will be next Monday, Geoff, from 8 30 until 5 30 . Such fun.
