Ash is the Surrey village where I lived as a man-child.

There is this spot 12 yards away-the object of the game is to get a ball in a place that is 24 ft x8 ft with a bloke in the way from that spot-the bloke cannot move until you hit the ball-now play.

I have 2 questions -what happened to the four pace rule for goal keepers and why was there an Italian player out on the wing constantly unmarked who was constantly passed to?

Apparently the reason SAF is so successful is that he stands on the touchline and watches the game and changes the tactics when he spots what the opposition are doing, he does not sit in the dug out with his arms folded(not until they are winning)

SR is having free postage this week, I have ordered some dahlias for my sister as my attempts at growing flowers for her has been a little delayed.image

Poor old Roy looked like the lonely uncle who had come to a party but wanted to be anywhere but there-he has put a positive spin on it by pointing out they did not lose a game in normal time the whole tournament.

    AVB to Spurs?

I will not but any more plants, I will not go to B&Q on Wednesdayimage

What did you get done in the garden?

  • kate1123kate1123 Posts: 2,815

AVB is 3/10 so it looks likely, but Dan Levy is not answering my calls at the moment so we will have to wait and see.

That was always the problem with Roy we were less likely to lose and less likely to winimage

I have planted out some more dahlias, only 3 more to go, I sowed some french beans(with plastic collars), I put some of my revived geraniums in containers, I hope that they flower, was a great way to store them.

Buying rescue plants is an act of kindness.

The lady down the road who gave me some asters is now offering them on freecycle, to come and help yourself, if I saw someone helping them self to plants in my neighbours garden, I would be phoning the policeimage

I have sown four french beans a pot in 3 pots indoors to replace the snaffled bean plants but time marches on-the runners are slowly creeping to the top of the supports-but everything is behind and am working to a deadline.

Would you phone the police if they were in nasty neighbours garden or supply trowel and a carrier bag

If you had grass verges that had not been cut -would you cut them yourself- and if you did, would you just do your half of a shared strip?

The zinnias I sowed last week are bigger and healthier than the ones I sowed in Aprilimage

Does cutting the grass make your house look nicer? Have you ever exchanged a pleasant word with your neighbour? How long would it take you to cut his half?

  • sotongeoffsotongeoff Posts: 9,802

The reason I ask is that some do and some don't -this morning despite my dislike of him I did because it looks neater-the verges have not been cut for 2 months and the grass is now over a foot high in places-I was told 2 weeks ago that it would be done- surprisingly 2 weeks ago

But he would not have cut it if I didn't.

    Have contacted council

Has this now convinced you that an early start does not always pay off-and will you have forgotten that in 8 months?

Your reward will be in heaven. I will be interested in the councils response. If I was you neighbour I would never cut verge even if it was 3 feet high, would I know that it was you and not the council?

In my defence, if it had been a lovely June, I would have been vindicated.

You would know because not all verges have been cut-and some are half-cut-there is a joke there somewhere.

I am not sure about that line of defence-but it might be accepted in mitigation

Not everyone is that observant, I was amazed the number of people who walked by a recycling bin that was in the road , why is it difficult to put it back on the pavement?

Did she just come for appearance money?
