Well I think we're getting there. Daughter & me being much more ruthless than OH. I have just put some of his Mum's personal things he had into a tin. I wouldnt touch those.
It's very difficult clearing out someones' house when they are still alive. I almost felt it was worse than if Dad had actually gone. I felt so guilty.
I still have a bag of my Mum's things under the spare bed. I couldnt do it all those yrs ago, nor when we cleared their house in'11 & know it'll be very difficult even now.
Daughter has just shamed me by cleaning the inside of the door of the ex-airing cupboard. Boy does it look better! Wont need to repaint it now!
Have also consigned a weeping fig houseplant, varigated version, into the unheated greenhouse! Cruel yes, as it wont survive, but it's too big, drops leaves everywhere wherever it lives & I've not got a larger pot for it next yr. It was about 50p I think from the sell-off rack at Homebase many yrs back. I need to rescue the polished stones that are deorating (!) the top of the compost, but then into the compost bin in the sky......
Re that firework accident- not too far away from us. Police etc all trying to track down the source of them. They've found another not too far way I think. J.
Brrrrrrr. Just raked up a few more leaves. OH has been mowing piles I make but thse were only small leavesand not as tough as oak so scooped them up and put them in bin. They are damp and that is good I think.
New at all this compost stuff. I ordered a compost bin - from the offer - but when it came was too small so am using it for the leaves, Thing is nearly full and oak has only just started shaking off the leaves, Hoping with wet/damp they will settle down. Leaving the lid off.
I get upset when going thru mother stuff. i agree I thunk it is far worse as she is still here. Although she has no use or need of it.
Some local-ish young lads 'found' an industrial firwork, a bomb type I think, & set it off in the street. Needless to say the injuries pretty horriffic & there's been a picture put out of one of the victims, by his Mum, to try & prevent more like it. Apparently police have found a 2cnd such 'bomb'! (I think somewhere back on this thread you'll see the pic)
Upstairs agin..... meal going to be easy tonight, 1 that I can almost do asleep! As for the ironing pile..... J.
Back from Cosco with coconut and cherry cake instead of mince pies Now going to sort out a few houseplants that need cutting back and making a start on the regals. Seems a shame as some of them are stiil flowering but don't want to leave it any later.
Geoff, the only thing I like at the fairground is the candyfloss stall. I am the world's biggest wimp .
Tomorrows bonfire is getting more 'fun' by minute. One of neighbours is now out on the Green removing turf and digging a hole. Another neighbour is out there supervising with a pint and a fag. I wonder if they'll work out that the hole as it stands (well sits) isn't big enough for stuff accumulated to be burnt. OH has opted to be in charge of bonfire. Such Fun!!!!!
I also thought it was going further down - not outside the houses .....
One thing I bet there'll be more revelry than at the wedding. Jubilee there was and I organised that!
Think I'll contribute some of my apple mountain by making an apple cake.
I love fairgrounds! I'll go on anything that doesn't go upside down. My favourites were the Waltzers and a thing called The People Mover. It used to whizz round and throw you side to side until you slammed into the legs of the person you were sitting with, and you spent most the ride trying to not get hurt!!
Have you been to Alton Towers?-went there when the kids were younger-so scary
Mind you have also taken them to Thorpe Park-and Chessington-we gave them the choice of Chessington or Madame Tussuad's- for some reason they thought I was crackers

Nosey now - what firework accident?
What a strange day-it started with it chucking it down and now the sun is out.
Just noticed there is fair along with the fireworks-should point out that no good on the big-dipper
Favourite fairground rides??
