Just testing to see if you were reading carefully Geoff.
OH says Eammon Andrews was What's My Line, I liked Isobel Barnet best.
Kate, one of the joys of living in a small town, although I don't think our market will last much longer, not enough people shopping locally. A new Morrisons opening not far from the market and The Co-op, it will have a big impact. Tesco 7 miles away.
I'm lucky enough to live in a small town which has quite a foody reputation. We have a butcher, fishmonger/deli, greengrocer's, health food shop, artisan baker, regular delicatessen, a take out sandwich/lunch/snack place which makes things to order, an Indian takeaway, a Chinese takeaway (latter rather nasty - seem to specialise in duck's kneecaps and pineapple) and a fish and chip shop. We also have a teeny weeny Co-op, with teeny weeny trolleys to match! Oh and a Spar shop which is open 7-11. One of the hairdresser's sells organic eggs and home made pickles, chutneys and jams. They're all about 2 minutes walk away.
There was a food festival here the other weekend, one of the main streets was full of loads of stalls - it was though this usually sleepy little town had turned into Camden, it was heaving!
The next weekend, the big British Cycle race came through, which wasn't quite as exciting (or fattening!)
Asda,Tesco's and Lidl's both about 7 miles away, and a Morrison's about 8 miles away in the other direction.
We have had steady rain since 04.00, still tipping it down. Decamped to Bloke's for the day to watch Superbikes. His turn to cook full English!
Not daunting at all, it's a lovely town to live in, population only about 4,400. Big enough for privacy, but small enough for me to wander downtown in my slippers, forget my purse and it not to be a problem!
Cheers Fig! n for god's sake! Do not mention Super Bikes!!! My bosses son is involved!!! n I take interest for obvious reasons! But get it full style!! Was asked to drive his trailor all over the world! But declined! 6 months venue only! n I have a family!!
Nice surprise when I came home 4ish after a boring few hours on dog rescue biz - OH had lit the wood burner! On a dank manky day like this, it's very cheering. Garden is loving the rain, though.
