Lovely sunny day here although I feel like I am living on a building siteimage

David that Begonia is gorgeous, I will be adding it to my list.

Gary I bought some Hollyhock Halo seeds in the 50p sale so I am hoping that next year I will have more around my front door.

Becks what are you going to do with the extra time?

  • Dan, how did you restrain yourself?

    David, those begonias are lovely.

Nice day here, and getting warmer. The forecast for the weekend is looking promising too - which is good as I'm camping again, this time in Chingford (well, at Gilwell, home of Scouting!).

Pam, let me know how you get on with the cake.

Inka, I never knew island dwellers dressed like that!

I might be getting some free plants this evening - if I can persuade OH to come and do some digging with me. Someone on freecycle is getting rid of their garden, so its a case of 'help yourself - if you want it, dig it up'.

Lottie have they given an open address or just invited a select few people, I have this image of a big mud fightimage You will only be 20 mins from me this weekend, it is always sunny hereimage

  • Kate if I'm only 20 mins away I feel it is only right that I pop round for tea and cake!

I was sent the address in an email - but I don't know how many other people have also received the email! I shall go armed with a fork and spade.

  • Hi everyone.

Back to normal today after spending 3 hrs at the orthopaedic clinic yesterday afternoon with daughter with broken foot. She had to see the consultant yesterday and have the cast removed. We were moving from one department to another, very boring, anyway good news the plaster is off, not so good news, foot still swollen and tender so she will be of work for a further few weeks. As she works 12 hour shifts as nurse I can't see her being able to work for some timeimage anyway, I'm now going to sort the caravan out ready for next weeks hols. We have decided to go to Herefordshire, will be looking out for Monty and Nigel as we will be in his neck of the woods, might even drop in for a cup teaimage

I like the idea of going to someones garden and just digging up what you want, image

David love the begonias lovely quiet shades.

Becks. I remember that back to school feeling so well. Although you love them to bits, it's nice to have a few hours of "me" time.

Bye for now have a nice day whatever you are doing.image

Lottie it would be great if you popped around but who would be supervising the scoutsimage

Chris what a day you had, at least she should take the advice the doctors give.

Can you imagine popping into a shop for a pint of milk and bumping into Monty and Nigelimage I am sure that if he knew that you had a cake and a bone for Nigel he would be delighted to show you around his garden.image

Kate, as we go away on Friday, I will be sorting the case out, and what to take, in peace, without madam adding half her toybox! image

Lottie, hope you have fun without the mudfights! Take some reserved signs, and walk round first, popping them on what you want!  image

Chris, I LOVE caravan holidays. Swap you for a villa in Spain??

  • Hope you are enjoying your few hours of peace, Becks. Most kids today look forward to going back to school. I hated it, always had loads of homework to do that I had been putting off all holidays.

Lottie, a few years ago a local demonstration garden, Probus, was being sold by the council and they were auctioning off the individual gardens. We bought the contents of the pond garden and a Japanese garden. They gave us about three days to come and dig or take away the plants in the gardens. We made quite a few trips back and forth but on one visit we found that some of the choice plants had 'vanished'. I thought gardeners would be honest people apart from taking the odd cutting image. I did feel sorry for some of the gardeners who were mostly volunteers. they were devastated  that the gardens were closing.

I hope you manage to get some nice plants, Lottie.

  • Kate its a leaders only weekend so no cubs or scouts to worry about image

I will have to be on the lookout for plants walking off by themselves! I don't think its a very big garden so I'm not sure what I might come home with. Will let you know.

It seems that our allotments waiting list is now non-existent, which I find hard to believe. Current plot holders are taking on additional half-plots as there's nobody to take them on. It seems Mr and Mrs PP have now got an extra half-plot, opposite their original one. I won't be taking on any extra as I can't keep up with the one I have got! Oh, to be retired!

pottiepam I visited Probus many years ago before I knew anything about gardening, I seem to remember going to keep my mum company.

Lottie sounds like it will be a party. Odd about the allotments, I thought there was still 10 year waiting lists at some. Did you buy a lottery ticket?
