Hi everyone. We have just returned from 5 day break in North Yorkshire to find a lovely lot of tomatoes ready, peppers doing very nicely too!. but the whole garden seems to have gone mad while we were away, goodness knows what it would be like if we left it for any length of time, so it's back to the deadheading, mowing, and finding spaces for several plants bought on our trips out. We visited Yorkshire Lavender on Thursday, gorgeous weather. The lavender and oregano was alive with bees, you could hear the hum from quite a distance and the scent was just wonderful, worth a visit if you are in the area.
Just been catching up with all your gossip, very amusing, I missed all the banter whilst I was away.
By the time we had unpacked the caravan, got the washing in the washer, had a meal, it's nearly time for bed, it's a lovely feeling to be back home.
What will we be watching on TV next week after the Lympics? Perhaps my garden will get a little extra attention.
PS got some lovely Opal plums ready, plum pie on Sunday, yummy.
HI Kate1123, No I didn't buy any lavenders, they don't seem to do very well on my soil, I have got one in a pot that seems to do alright. I got a lovely red oregano, though, don't know it's name unless I look on the label, haven't ventured out yet, just having my first cuppa of the day. I really want one called rosenkuppel, but they were out of stock, it's always the same, you see something in the show garden that really catches your eye and they don't have it, will have to wait until next year for their stock, so I am now searching t'internet for another supplier.
As for slugging, yes that sounds OK, my daughter and her cousins used to go "snailing" when they were kids, you could make an Olympic sport out of that this year! Pity they aren't around now I could keep them fully occupied.
Another glorious day. The bbq will be out later - menu - minted lamb koftas and chilli beef ones, piri-piri ribs, burgers from Cosco ( cos they're are very tasty ) and ,of course , those sausages. Served with rocket salad and savoury rice.
Grass cut and edged , flowers deadheaded so everything looks good . Staying out there all day.
IMO, the team's trainers and management have a lot to answer for.
Today - men's canoe - considered the best medal chance for the final weekend, 9.30am.
Good chance of podiuming in women's sailing, this afternoon.
Mo Farah running tonight (7.30). BBC will inevitably say going for G2, but newspapers say unrealistic.
Tom Daley's semi-final this morning (10am) and final tonight (8.25). He only scraped through in the heats. Does not appear in best form. Newspaper pundits still seem confident about making it to podium. We'll have to see.
Boxing final tonight (8.45) - GB v Ireland - will be fierce. G expected to go to Ireland.
For fun entertainment - cross country biking, across farmland near London (12.30-2pm).
Modern Pentathlon is an interesting 2-day event, we have a chance of podiuming in the women's final tomorrow.
The sun is beating down -I foresee more hours of lounging around doing nothing-need to water containers and baskets shortly
Ltg-withdrawal symptoms will set in on Monday-it will feel very strange-then it is the paralympics but that is not quite the same-I think I miss most of that .
Jean-which ones are you missing-still haven't seen any stamps in real life
Kate -is that tonight-will there be a big screen there?

LTG did you buy any lavenders?
I have just got back in from slugging, is that a made up verb?
Slugging! Isn't that what Cavemen did to their women, before dragging them off by their hair?

LTG that oregano looks lovely.
Jean we will be expecting a photo of the 50p collection when it is complete.
Gary you would think that the relay team would do a little more practise.
Another sunny day here, does anyone else dread going to an evening wedding reception?
