Afties all. Have spent a little while sitting out enjoying the sun!!! (I know!!!) and trying to decide where to plant the shrubs I already have. Round my new paving in case I failed to make that clear. Came in to find requirements for shrubs I have so far. Now I really need to find somewhere to obtain reasonably priced 'little stuff' - small lavenders and thymes for starters as GC pots work out rather pricey.
Flo - if you get the GW magazine they say the May edition will come with 48 "free" lavender plants. I used this offer last year - they are tiny when they arrive (like little fingernail size !) - but they have grown on well and are now quite bushy in 1 litre pots. So if you are willing to wait a year it might be an option for your new paving
Late checking in today, been a busy day what with one thing or another.
Been without a car as it had to go into the garage to have a new cam belt. It's the other side to town so had to use 2 buses to pick it up. All done now. Oh starts to whittle if things are getting near the time to be done, so at least it's done with now, ready for our holiday to France.
I went into the garden just to water a few pots, and then spent an hour re potting some lilies, still 8 pots to go. Didn't intend to start them until tomorrow, but you know how it is, you just get carried away. It was lovely to feel the warm sun, didn't need a fleece.
Fabulous day - busy in the garden - absolute bliss
All day I've been thinking .... this is the last summer that I'll have to fit my gardening into the weekends - next summer I can get up in the morning and go out and garden all day if I want to - I actually got a bit damp around the gills thinking about it
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I didn't get any instructions with mine so I planted them straight away in ordinary potting compost on 16th March, so probably did everything wrong. I have kept them in the small snug which is the warmest place in the house, but no sign of life. Tracey did tell me they can be ages before they shoot. I think we will have a long wait. Treating them as a learning experience
Dove, being retired is great, do as you like, when you like, can't beat it.

i still have mine from last year waiting to go in somewhere.
I often go for their offers Flo, as it fills up garden quickly and can let go ones you don't like. Did my fruit that way

Chris - my Taccas have come
Have you potted yours ? If so did you use orchid compost ?
The instructions on mine say not to pot until end of April
Sorry, good evening everyone.
Just excited about my new arrival.

Dove - you wouldn't be soon to retire by any chance, would you

Chicky, thank you so much for that information. I shall seek out the May mag. forthwith!
Hi Jean.
