My mother worked in a butchers when she was young. We were served up just about every part of an animal you can imagine - stuffed lambs heart was one of her favourites . She could never understand why I became a vegetarian and she still doesn't 30 years on
We havnt eaten lamb for couple yrs now since we had a poorly one in back field , we didn't see it in long grass by fence but lab olive did , she kept lying by fence whimpering (olive was very young) .... Went to check why and a baby was there dying . Couldn't stand up and was shivering . Wernt leaving it for the foxes so OH climbed over with a towel and wrapped it up and took it down to farm , it wasn't going to survive but didn't want it left there
R.I.P. my Caenothus. After 2-3yrs of looking increasingly miserable I've take the saw to it. Not sure how old it was, but at least 10yrs+ & I know that they are short lived. It wasnt going to cope with the increased competition from the wild cherry tree, on other side of fence & a vigorous E/G berberis my side.
The cornus has also had a hard prune this yr. Realised that it was getting an odd shape, which is because I planted it far too close to a path. So it should regrow hopefully a better shape, or give me the chance to keep it that way.
Need to scrub myself up next & get cooking or daughter will be back & no meal. J.

Rabbit stew and rabbit pie was what we had when I was a wee girlie. Nothing like chicken It's got a much stronger taste - or the ones I ate did.
When I told my class of 10-year olds they never looked at me in the same way again!
Not you, dearest Bunny, I wouldn't sink my teeth into you
Geoff, thanks for link to the babies.
