FloBear, I will be having warm beetroot salad - boiled beetroots served still warm with new potatoes and whatever salad leaves are available. Sprinkle the beets with balsamic vinegar - yummy. I will also add a couple of hard boiled eggs and a blob of mayonnaise on the side.

    Not sure about beetroot jam!

Geoff that is not normal for your potatoes but then its not been a normal year. Some of my main crop have yellowed as well.

Am hoping we don't have to wait 3 months for the jam - the scones will be stale by then!

Kate, boss is out today, can I have permission to go home early?

Lottie leave now, you have lots to do. Sofa to lie on, book to read, beetroot to warm.

Has anybody read "50 shades of grey"-I keep hearing about this-is it a bit risque?image

Geoff, haven't read it but I've heard its a bit naughty. Maybe I should leave now, go and buy a copy and lie on the sofa to read it. Kate says I can!

Oooh, Lottie, sounds nice. I think if I start now the beetroot will be ready in time.

Geoff, camelong now, I'm sure you never get the 'ump.

Kate, here are hedgehogs (& other little knits) Hedgies are only about 3.5 ins long. I knitted 3 while Andy Murray was losing. Probably explains their wry expressions!

Lottie why are you still there, what time do you clock off on a friday?

Geoff image I have not read it but I am a philistine, you may need to find a cultured book reader.

    Aren't trhey just?

Beetroot cake- daughter did one recently & very yummy.

Still have gooseberry jam & tayberry jam from 08/9 & 07 respectively so they will need eating first folks. Didnt think I'd done tayberry jam before as usually prefer them done in crumbles. Jam cupboard nearly full, just enough room for last lot.

The jam pan didnt need a brillo after all. I'd resoaked it & that was enough. Oh yes, doing the jars in the dishwasher- excellent!

Still wandering around garden trying to decide where my Tatton purchases are actually going. Would really like to minimise the need for more plant moving this autumn if possible. So lots of muttering going on as original decisions need a re think. J.

No insect bites yet.... but they will come. Must start using repellant again- that was the 1 & only advantage of the chemo, completely left alone by insects!
