I must say,on googling copper tape I was surprised how reasonably priced it is.I must get some asap.
Anyway, two of the young Foxgloves are untouched but the third had a huge slug on it.However I got there in time and the only damage was a small hole in one leaf. How much the brambles deterred attacks I don't know,it could be just chance but I was really expecting more damage than this. I'm not sure whether to dig these plants up again to pot them on so they are bigger on going into the ground?
I think you may be right Verdun. If I lay a ring of salt at a wide enough diameter I'm hoping it won't affect the plants. Relying on natural predators is also hit and miss,I dumped three slugs in the middle of the lawn to see if any birds came down but nothing. The trouble with all this is we have to avoid becoming obsessed!!
My lupins now inhabit copper clad pots, after years of losses...
After losing every bean, pea, delphinium and dahlia, seeing my clematis, foxgloves, red hot pokers and michaelmas daisies decimated, I'm now on a thrice nightly war of attrition. Collecting on average 100 snails and slugs a night, which are then taken 5 miles away (blighters aren't that good at homing) and presented as a treat for my mother's chickens. Nematodes have been applied, but they don't affect snails and the slugs are still there.
I will win. If not, at least my running commentary as I collect will amuse the neighbours...
Last week they said Boffins from somewhere or other had proved that if you throw snails the length of a cricket pitch ( Not the length of wicket 22yrds ) they fail to come back because their sat nav does not work over that distance.
It did not say anything about the impact caused after a throw like that may have had a greater effect rather than their faulty homing devices
30 or so snails and slugs rounded up and deposited about a mile away in a field tonight. They were all over the place this evening and my young Foxgloves were/are in danger of being massacred.Hopefully they'll stand a better chance now
I used to have a pet badger some 40 years ago. I fed her as a cub on a can of freshly collected snails and slugs every night, and she thrived on them ! I also added a few drops of baby vitamins as well. Just Loaded with protein, so they are !
So everybody, get yerself a badger ! ( only jokin'. It's not legal these days .)

The ones I chuck forcibly onto the road probably have their homing devices slightly impaired Dogbowl....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Don't home in here, not when I've stood on them.
Been out once already tonight, shall be going out again when it gets dark.
