Would be helpful if anyone posting on these little blighters could put the area of the UK they are from, maybe we could chart there progress and timeline as they spread throughout the country, i have checked and not seen any as yet, last year June was when i spotted the first of them, the year before "May 2012" was the first time i had discovered them, jumped on line as i didn't know what they were, was shocked by what i read..they totally destroyed trays of young lilly plants in 2012 so much so my wife was distraught and ready to give up growing her favourite lilly's, i don't give up so easily and take great pride in destroying the little pests, So basically Lanarkshire Central Scotland no lilly beetles to report as yet...
York. My dad's lilies were infested when I went to see him at the weekend - I killed perhaps 20 adult beetles on four plants. Mine, 10 miles away, still have none. So it can be very local. I grow my lilies in pots, and this year I repotted them all. In the compost I found perhaps 15 grubs, but only in some pots. Apparently this shouldn't happen, as only adults over-winter. So either the RHS website is wrong, or I killed something else.
Had the little blighters in Huddersfield for about a month now. First seen on the snake's head fritillary but then spotted on the emerging lilies! All hunted down and squished and no sign of eggs!!
Noticed two on my fritillary flowers yesterday...I thought they only liked lillies...I first noticed them at the beginning of this month, I'm in the NW, there were tiny holes on the lilly leaves.
I wanted to take some lillies to grow on the alloment as cut flowers so have segregated some in the GH.
How long should they be left and gone undamaged before you are sure there are no lilly beetles bugs on them or eggs in the soil?

Cheers LL, that's what most gardeners look like to the outside world...
At last the picture I promised

Another one squidged as soon as arrived home today
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Manchester. Been getting beetles for about 3 weeks now. They are also attacking my Alstromeria which they haven't before.
