Wintersong-can you not save any of the the pampas?

I will be exploring further tomorrow when I recover from my aches and pains. The soil hasn't been dug in that area for more than a decade, so I'm in for some serious exercise.

If I can save part or parts of it I will certainly will! The outside edges are still living but its sheer size might make division problematic.

Its huge and acts as a privacy screen for our little sun spot, so the neighbours can't see me sunbathing. Hubby has already volunteered to build some trellis and an arbour to sit in the same corner so I might end up with the same quality of privacy,a new vista and a baby Pampas that I can watch from my kitchen window through the winter. That would be a great ending to this story, especially since I seem to be making enormous holes in my garden sudden when I had done so much autumn planting to fill those gaps.

Oh well, the joys of having a large garden image

Lovely pics Geoff, though I think you may have been on the sauce for number 4!  I bought some liner for my hanging baskets (only cheap), which aren't covered like yours with lovely weaved baskets image and the birds are gradually picking them to pieces for their nests.  Hope the begonias inside will survive all the abuse!

Koala, wasn't that nice of Inka to give me your Strawberries!   Please ask your Dad to pamper them whilst you're away, so that I can enjoy a bumper crop image

Those baskets are so pretty! I'm useless at such high maintenance stuff though. Reminded me to sow some more little violas in a month or so, but am still consumed with veg obsession. Planted out some more broad beans today which have been skulking in the cold frame during the deluge. Cleared about a zillion forget me nots, moved a sanguisorbia, wandered round for half an hour with a Rosemary in a pot - I think I've worked out where to put it. Found a broken blue eggshell with brown speckles about 3cm - is that a robin's egg? Heard a lot of squawking, so I think there might be babies about somewhere.
  • Warm and sunny in south devon today, did all the gardening stuff first thing, opened the greenhouse, went off fishing came back and it was 33 degrees!  Poor little seedlings are hanging their shrivelled heads.
