It has been a funny week came back from scorching Spain to scorching Southampton-now it has cooled down but is not as cold and miserable as forecast-rain overnight showers in the air around18/19C- not the 12C predicted
Well: who'd-a-thunk it? The sun is shining, lots of blue sky, tho' drizzly stuff in the air comes and goes (good for rainbows).
If I could send this up to London I would - it's much warmer than predicted. Thermometer outside kitchen window reads 22C.
Lots of low cloud on the hills, though, so once again we may be blessed with the Porlock Vale micro-climate. But I'm making the most of it!
Roast duck with orange sauce for lunch, smelling wonderful in the oven. Followed by Diamond apple and blackberry puffs (own invention - hope they taste as good as they look!). And a bottle of fizz to go with it.
Well it has barely stopped raining here in Merseyside since yesterday morning. Looking on ther bright side though at least my water butts will be full!
Didn't mind the rain today as I'd planned to watch the celebrations along the Thames on TV, shame about the rain though, and the atmosphere, which didn't really come across on TV and you only get if you are there.
Teesside, off air yesterday as we had our own party "err" in the house, the conservatory was warm so Granddaughter planted on her Sun flower> I put a tray with all she needed in the conservatory and guided her through it, she asked if she could keep it here as mum and Dad kill plants, daughter wondered why we were laughing our heads off. Lunch a roaring success then watched the pageant and in the end turned off the sound, it was pathetic in places. I gave them tea and they left happy after what had been a special day in more ways than one. Today we have sunshine, warmish and clear above me but looking a bit waspish over "Rains" side of the Styx. Greenhouse open and all watered, tom's shooting up and the benches clear now for some late sowing.
Sunshine and clouds - and it looks as if the sun will win the battle today. At least it's dry, although quite a bit cooler. I felt sorry for everyone watching the pageant in London yesterday - we had a bit of rain late afternoon, but nothing like the soaking in the capital.

It's raining here, has been all night, and the temperature is 8C.
I feel so sorry for anyone having parties today.

Southampton
bit of blue, mostly cloudy, a cool wind.
