Sunny day in the Chilterns - off outside to do some hoeing between daffy etc. Greenhouse is nice and warm and various seeds are starting to show, so looks like plenty of work over the next few days. Loads of Red Kites floating overhead which is usually a sign that the warmer weather is giving them a few more thermals to hitch a ride on - another few weeks of this and I might venture up the local airfield at Booker and get some more Glider tuition - chase the kites perhaps?
Glorious Sunshine 80c in conservatory. Been in the garden pruning clematis and general tidy up, feels almost warm in spot sheltered from the breeze. Great!!
I love Kites, and all birds of prey, we don't get them this far north as yet, plenty of buzzards though..
-5c in the shed first thing, spent most of the day in town, 10.5c mid afternoon. Driving home it was rather hazy to N & W. Still sunny now though, but getting noticeably breezy.
Less cold today in South Wales. I was OK in a wadded anorak but the sun was not out. Spent a pleasant couple of hours in the garden planting pots of daffs into the ground and generally tidying up and pruning. Clematis already starting to bud, so pruning now a necessity. Not really sure how to prune English roses but its too late now if I got it wrong!
Absolute cracking day wall to wall sunshine and a tropical 9.3c and no wind, wonderful day in fact if it wasn't for the fact that I've been busy planting and digging I would have cheerfully sat in it as it was that nice bring it on Mother Nature can do with a lot more days like that.
Went for a drive (too cold to get out of car and walk anywhere) around the Brecon Beacons last Thursday and was thrilled with the number of low flying red kites we saw - great views and such a brilliant success story.
Stockton on Tees, awoke to gun metal skies and a very heavy frost, an hour later the sun was out and frost gone although we still have that bitter Easterly wind.
