  • Wet, rainy, grey. This time last year it was so dry that the soil was turning to dust, today puddles.

  • have had no success with sweet pepper seeds at all, any advice out there?

Do you mean they are not germinating ? They need to be quite warm to get them set off - sunny window indoors and covered should do.

Sun is shining up here in Dunbar. Heavy rain earlier.

  • Yes, the problem in non germination.  Tried one lot indoors and one lot in the greenhouse weeks ago and nothing at all!  Thinking now of buying some seedlings and growing on.

South-East UK inland is rainy grey and very blustery. Went out to do jobs because I don't mind rain but the wind was too cold.

My sweet pepper seeds took about a month longer to germinate than my tomatoes. Only just developing first set of true leaves. Went to the local agricultural store yesterday - they have a huge polytunnel with veg seedlings, I pop in to see how I'm doing with my own. Their sweet peppers are at least 6" high, I don't know how they do it! But theirs broad beans and peas were pathetic. I've already planted mine out.

We're heading for another three or four days of rain - well, showers - here in Central Italy. Good thing, too. Last year was one of the driest on record. The temps hit the low-20s in mid-March and it stayed very warm till late October into November. This year started the same - mid-20s in mid-March - and the locals were starting to panic, but it suddenly cooled off and started to rain and has for the last three weeks. I'm worried that some of the seeds I've planted out might rot in the ground, but better the rain. I can always sow more.

  • It's 7am here and of course it's snowing!
