Sounds like a well deserved break Kate. No gardening here today as OH is dismantling a chimney and everything is full of smaller and larger pieces of brick.

I have a space in my propagator, shall I sow Nicotianas, Morning Glory or Tomatoes?

  • sotongeoffsotongeoff Posts: 9,802

Can you not do all three-I thought you had tomatoes-now if you need some plants I know someone who has some for saleimage

I thought That it was a bad idea to mix seeds in a tray?

What do you charge for postage?

  • sotongeoffsotongeoff Posts: 9,802

Oh only a little space then-it is tricky if they germinate at different rates-morning glory don't transplant well in my experience so would sow them direct-cosmos best bet-what happened to the toms?

Horrendous postage costs -can you send the pigeon?

I've been digging around in large circles of gravel today unearthing the fat purple fingers of my hostas that erupt from the ground as though clawing for the sunlight. I go so far as counting the fingers greedily, talking to them as you do and adding another ring of grit to keep the slugs off. I'm especially pleased with my newbie Patriot that I brought last year from B&Q with three stalks and this year there are eleven fingers!

I adore hostas but only started growing them recently because I was afraid of the slug population. I currently own six varieties but am reallly hoping to improve on that!

I thought I had lost one pot grown one that looked a little sad-turned it out a few weeks back to find weevil grubsimage-all the tops of the hostas where there re-potted and now growing away strongly in fresh compost-weevils gone to chicken tummies-so everything good.image
