Artjak - I love opera too and Early Music, and 20th century English music and all sorts of what some people would call 'Classical'. I used to work at an Arts Centre which specialised in presenting Early and Contemporary English music - a wonderful place to work!
I had the most wonderful experience last summer, watching Peter Grimes performed live on the beach at Aldeburgh as part of the Britten Centenary (even if sitting on the shingle all evening did absolutely kill my back !)
And for those people who say they like Mozart but don't like opera - go and see The Magic Flute!!!! A wonderful introduction to Mozart's operas containing all the things that people love about his music, plus humour, romance and spectacle - brilliant!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Dove- what makes me laugh when people say they don't like opera/classical music is, when they use various pieces for adverts etc, they'll go around singing or whistling it!
Anyway you , me and art still have to mud wrestle or something for Mr Domingo. I'm already in training...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Garden jeannie, I'm very soft inside, and there are lots of records that make me sad and even cry, as I mentioned before and you also Dance with my farther, I was at the Royal Albert Hall one evening with tears pouring down my face, I was so glad it was dark. Phil Collins Take a look at me now can have me in tears. Another i've mentioned Mike & the Mechanics.......In the living years also a tear jerker.
Sweet Caroline always reminds me of a lovely day out.....drivingin the snow one boxing day (I know you will find that weird, such a jolly song....but memories...)
I also love Dire Straits Romeo & Juliet and Brothers in arms and Walk of life
And love Cecilia, a real sing-a-long when ironing!
And Marty Pello..... well we all have our faults don't we lol
I think todays song is Bruce Sprinsteens Born to Run. The OH is his biggest fan and evertime he tours I get dragged along. I pretend it is a chore but I am quite a fan as well. You have to admire a bloke in his late 60s doing his high octane 3 hour shows.
The song also name checks a girlfriend I had when I was 17, so of double importance to me.
I am liking the thought of the mud wrestling !
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
