Not happy with Sarah Raven. Placed an order months ago. Cerinths arrived in very poor condition. 3 died. The Ann Folkard geranium didn't come and I had had begun to think I had dreamt that i had ordered it. Callled them still no sign. A very poor specimen finally arrived a couple of days ago. They have credited me for the cerinthes but all in all a bad experience. Don't think I'll use them again.
Anyone is the Suffolk/Essex area. I would extremely recommend sturmer nurseries. A good variety of plants, seeds and garden bits with a cafe that serves fresh home made food. Definitely worth the trip. By far one of the best garden centres in the area.
The staff are really knowledgeable and friendly too which is a bonus.
ordered ten chrysanths from them, they looked very poor plants and proved to be very poor plants and not one made it through the potting up stage.
despite many e.mails and even a letter ,marked private and personal , to the chariman did not move them, they could not have cared less and what is more after reading their reviews that this was par for the course for this firm, i thought i would have a good case to put before the trade and standard office i was wrong ,they showed as much interest as van meuwen themselves.
i have since found out from other victims that my experience is with this firm is not unusual.
on the other foot, like quite a few of previous correspondence, i have nothing but praise for parkers and on the one time that something did go wrong, between them and myself it was very quickly put right.
Here is the original 'good guys' thread. With so many of use using on-line ordering at the moment I thought it would be a good idea for people to be able to browse through it. I just want to put a shout in for Penny's Primulas. I ordered 4 sieboldii and 2 epimediums about a week ago and they arrived this morning perfectly packaged and in extremely good condition. Lovely plants would certainly use her again.
On Sunday evening 26th April I ordered bulbs of Colocasia Black Magic, they arrived today Tuesday 28th at midday perfectly boxed.
That to me was impressive service during these troubled times, as I am still waiting for seeds supposedly posted on on Monday 20th and another on Tuesday 21st.

I have just received 3 red heleniums from Cotswold Garden Flowers, healthy plants (in flower!) with great root systems. Well packed also. Very pleased
