Lovely toms Pat. Is that early for them or about normal?
Nice little icy ledge yesterday
Took two pix of Beinn an Lochain on the way back down yesterday - it's the neighbouring hill, and a cracking walk. First one just as normal, and the second with the filter only leaving blue. Funnily, it looks as if there's a lot more snow at lower level on the second pic
Plenty of choice of Christmas trees too....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fairy, I always set myself a challenge to try to get my first ripe tomato by Christmas day. this year I actually managed two and the two in the photo are the balance of a bunch of 4. They are Grosse Lisse. I think most people around here don't get ripe tomatoes for another month. (Not to brag, but I'm rather chuffed).
I don't know if you can see them, but there are hundreds of white cockatoos on the trees down on the river as well on the paddocks to the left. The noise is over the top.
A few from today - same hill as the one above. Temps were much lower so lots of icy bits and pieces.
Left to right - Beinn an Lochain, Stob Coire Creagach ( above tiny Loch Restil) Beinn Luibhean ( which spends a lot of time sitting on the A83 below!) and the summit of Beinn Ime just visible through the cloud.
craggy section of the hill
the adjacent hill to the south east - The Brack
crow just took off - his little feet were cold
crags
stopped off at Arrochar on the way home to get a pic down Loch Long
Great way to get rid of the cobwebs

Maps, books, route reports and repetition mainly. These are my 'local' hills ( an hour or so away) so I've been up and around the area a lot, and I've walked several of them many times. The hills at Arrochar are known as the Arrochar Alps
This is The Cobbler and Beinn Narnain from the hill - they're part of that group of hills along with Ime.

Yes the white birds on the dark green foliage of the Lombardy Poplars are good to watch - I could just do without their arguing and pushing each other off their branches - noisy beggars! Screech, screech, screach! It goes on for hours. hubby has a decent camera which puts my iPad camera to shame, so I'll try to remind him to get a better shot.

And young parsley ready to pick

You'd be right to be chuffed with the toms Pat
Lovely pic - can't see the cockatoos, but I can just about hear them....
