Hosta - mine too - except when I indulge in the panoramics
David - thanks - yes I have that, so would really appreciate any hints and tips you can offer
When I'm on the hills I need things to be simple - I don't like having to get my glasses on to footer about as the weather can change so rapidly that you can miss a shot very easily that could be a nice one. I stick to a couple of basic settings at the moment. If I can familiarise myself with more of them, without putting my glasses on, that would be ideal
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Ok, Fairygirl.....the general idea is that you can take pictures in monochrome with just pres-selected colours chosen i.e. maybe a field of pumpkins with the camera instructed to highlight orange......I posted one here where I took a pic of a poinsettia with the colour red selected to highlight leaves, etc.
1) set the dial to 'Adv.'
2) click menu
3) see 'Adv. MODE'
4) click right pointed arrow
5) from the list of colours click the down arrow to choose one of the optional (probably) colours or other special effects.
Just play around with these settings and have fun.

Brilliant David. Thanks - I'll play about with it
Here's a monochrome one I must have made earlier...oh no - that is the colour it really was!

Nah! It would have looked like this in monochrome.
Ya bu**er
That was taken seven years ago on the west coast of Arran. He just sat there taking in the air

Hosta. hope you're having fun with your new camera.....I did magnify one of your zoom shots and the detail was amazingly good.
No shame in getting used to a camera using 'auto', but (long term) it would be a shame to deprive yourself of the potential of your camera.
Not been on here for a few weeks, just trying to catch up.
All your photo's are fantastic, some great shot's.
Hi, Lorna.....pleased you popped in, I had missed your input.
Hope to get some photo's posted, not sure they are any good.
Just playing around with the Adv. settings on my camera. Set the camera to take a b&w pic wiv just greens allowed......gives the general idea.
