I becoming increasing disillusioned with the completion side of my camera club, particularly with the digital manipulation with 'photoshop' and other similar software.
I prefer not to enter any of my work on the basis that the judges even seem to insist that certain aspects of the entries being so manipulated.
just having a quick catch up great pictures everybody. David i do agree with you about manipulating photographs thankfully our tutor is teaching us how to take good shots and look at them with a critical eye, we have another class tonight and another field trip on Saturday.
i havnt posted pictures because they are all in the large format and i havnt had time to resize for interweb
Ann - I come from the old school of photography and have no problems with subject choice, composure or any of those things, I joined my club basically to improve my understanding of camera technology.
KEF - Members seem equally divided between for & agin, but it's a sad fact that the agins are at a disadvantage.
I would just add that in the old days when we had to buy our film, costs dictated we had to be more careful when taking our shots.
Just spotted in my post about 'photo manipulation' (19.39 yesterday) has the word 'completion' on the second line, I did intend to write 'competition'......think I must have typoed and the spellchecker changed it.

Anyone share my point of view?

Not sure if I'm inclined to be a member anymore.

Looks like a good day out lily, lovely pics, so that is where the pheasant went
David that's a shame, as you seemed to be really enjoying your club. Do any of the other members feel the same?
Hi Ann
Lovely shots, Lily...thank you for sharing them.

Sorry, Ann...I should have added that (from what you say) your new camera club seems to be impressive in its teaching technique.

hi David it isnt a camera club i go to, it is evening classes run by Cumbria adult education and well worth the cost in my opinion.
its a class of twelve, various ages and abilities and our tutor is a practising photographer with a MA in photography.
ann
