Yippee Poddington, it's exciting. My greenhouse is still in the dining room ( I brought it in when it was windy) and we have yet to have a good weekend to put it up Fingers crossed for this weekend. I can't wait to get started in mine and by the end of the weekend will have seen pots/trays all over the house so it needs sorting. I've no smilies - they have gone!!
Sounds lovely Dove. I made a load of blackcurrant jam last year with fruit from my mothers garden although it seems I'm the only one eating it! I think chutneys are the way forward this year.
Apparently its lovely and sunny outside. My partner is on holiday and is paving the area for his ManShed so I'm getting lovely updates while trapped in the windowless office!
Been on the phone for 2 hours with daughter this morning. Day seems to be disappearing before I've done anything apart from watering seedlings and putting washing in machine.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
we tried to put our GH up and ended up paying for someone to do it. Not as easy as instructions make out. Wish you well with it - I love mine now.- Radio, chair, plants - great
Had a frustrating fridge/freezer day yesterday - to long a story to tell but it took 4 weeks for someone to fix it and we have spent a couple of days without refrigeration - today it is really luxurious to have chilled milk, water etc
A stumpery - by the end of the year I aim to have one - a long term project - would love to see your photos of its development and which plants you decide on - please
Very surreal just stood outside work to look at the rainbow( a lot around this year) and get some vitamin d in the wonderful sunshine and it's hailing!!!!!
Oooh, I would like a stumpery! Have a little area in front of husband's study which has house/walls on 3 sides so is really shady. Am thinking a little stumpery might be nice. I love ferns, and I have some hostas that need moving so was thinking of putting them in there but thought they might get too attacked by slugs in a stumpery?Perhaps putting them in pots would be a better idea. But still like the idea of a stumpery since watching the garden revival programme.
Matty, I hope we don't have to get someone in to build the greenhouse. Thankfully The husband is quite handy, and is also better at reading instructions then me!
Hi everyone, it's been a lovely day here, no rain since about 6am. I didn't sleep well last night so didn't really think I'd have energy for the garden but you know how it is, went out for a little look around and then decided as it was sunny to do a little tidying up, I'm reluctant to remove all the dead leaves/twigs etc until spring is really on its way as I think it might provide a bit of protection if we get a hard frost but it was so warm and some things are really taking off already so I decided spring has sprung and went for it. Discovered two things my back doesn't like 1) bending down 2) straightening up - I wouldn't mind but I'm reliably informed I'm only 27.
Stacey, sorry I forgot to mention you in my earlier post. Hope the vitamin D intake has helped your toothache. Looking forward to getting my seeds, I was going to plant at weekend but if they arrive tomorrow I think I might do them tomorrow night Tonight I am planting my bare root plants, just bought new potting compost for the job, rose food, fish bone etc fertiliser stuff (that's the technical term), oh and 2 more plants jumped in my trolley as I was passing!!

Nine jars of marmalade gleaming like jewels on the dining room table - just the washing up to tackle now - but first I'll have a
