Good morning all - a pinch and a punch for the first of the month!
We've had a shower overnight - that'll water in the seaweed treatment I sprinkled on the back lawn on Tuesday. I don't use weed & feed on the back lawn because of the frogs and now of course because of the pond, but the grass is a bit sparse so I thought I'd give it a boost.
I'm going to wander around the garden with a hoe this morning, but then I'm off to have lunch with foody friends in Cromer
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning Dove - enjoy your lunch. Hope the horses are soon secured Lizzie, and that MrsG's head/cold have improved.
More rain here, but sun in the end yesterday .... Good growing weather again. Birds managed to empty the bird feeder in a record 4 hours yesterday (i was working at home, so saw it go down from 1-5pm). Are they feeding chicks already i wonder, or just getting themselves ready?
Morning Chicky re the birdfeeders - I think what happens is the adults use the reliable source of food to keep their own energy levels up while they hunt for caterpillars and aphids for the nestlings - that's my theory anyway.

A flick and a kick for being so quick , for Dove and Lilly.
Off to ol' boys and girls reunion lunch today. About 100 miles away and have to replace tyre on car on the way first. Huge cut on inside of tyre, not visible until wheel taken off. Can only have been a pothole. In the Forest we also have the problem of deep gullies at the edges of roads which get deeper as the rain and traffic works on them. Larger and larger cars also don't help as they try to pass on another on increasingly narrow roads. Ho Hum....
It seems that cars are getting so wide that most rural roads will soon only be single track only!!! When you think of the original Mini, and the Ford Anglia, cars seem huge nowadays - and yet whole families used to get inside those. I remember being driven to school for a couple of years in an Austin A30, there was the driver and four well-built teenage girls!
