Oh and i have just been discussing dogwoods Verdun.  He wants to make a grove of them.  Midwinter fire is on the list, as is sibirica for red stems.  Anyone got any suggestions for others with good colour stems to add to our list?

  • Morning all… just. Wonderful day here, sunny periods and no need for a coat. Great concert last night… Royal Marines association Band (43 strong) and Southampton Choral Society Choir ( 115 strong) gave a large audience a wonderful concert of Christmas music and carols. Truly uplifting and v. professional. Still smiling.

Hi Gg, no we only open the gardens every other year, but if you, or anyone else pms me I would be very glad to see you and show you around. Great incentive for me to get going again!

Another concert this afternoon … Messiah… in local Church, after lunch with friend.

Barbara Hulanicki on Desert Island discs.. great memories of my wife in so, so short BIBA  dresses. Would knock your socks off even now  image

  • Phoarrrrrr what a morning. Dug the chickens coup out we use sawdust so it makes a fab compost able mix.. 8 bin bags and 2 barrow loads later...... Then cut all the leaves off my hellibores never cut them all off before but I think it's the way forward to stop the dreaded black spot..... Exhausted and cold now but job well done by the Docherty household me thinks...... Borders look soooooo sorry for themselves I really should think about extending their season ..... Mmmmmmmmm right now I'm gonna curl up with a book and a coffee ( reading Steven Hawkins book inspired by his amazing life story last night ..... He's one of my fantasy dinner party guests.....)

  • Right, cards all written and ready to post - anyone with Royal Mail shares thinking their profits are going to continue to rise can think again - I bought so many Christmas stamps last year I had enough to stamp all this year's cards too image

Have we ever had a Fantasy Dinner Party Guest thread?
