Hello all , sorry I am new to this and have a question , I planted some parsnip seeds ten days ago in loose soil and I know it can take up to 32 days for them to germinate but when I water my patch the ground goes hard , Surely they will not be able to germinate if they cant push through the soil ? , thanks
Hello, I have a question about Potatoes. Can you cut the top of the potato plant while it is growing or will it affect the tubers? The reason I ask is because we have a small area and the potatoes are growing very tall, so I wondered if i cut them back whether it would damage the crop. Also has anyone ever bought ladybirds online is this an environmental no no. I live in central London and have a serious Aphid problem at the mo. Thanks in advance.
What a busy time in lock down gardens. Does anyone have ideas for organic ways to rid my crops of flea beetle ? Are there any companion planting that may help? Swede and Rocket seem to be the most effected. Many thanks. Knee Deep
Hi, I need some advice about shallots please. I've never grown them before! I was told that once the top growth has died back they should be lifted and left on the soil to dry, but with all this rain I'm guessing that's not a good idea. I don't have a greenhouse, but I do have a small shed. Should I put them in there or can I leave them on the soil and cover them with a cloche? Thanks

Unless it is like concrete, they will grow. Parsnips easily take three weeks to germinate
Hello , Danny do you known what kind of soil you have ?
Parsnips are usually pretty tough , so should be ok

I have posted this question elsewhere on the website but not sure whether it was the right part!
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
