nutcutlet 31.7.15 (I want to use quotes but seems beyond me!) re subtitles - I did mention this in, I think, Problem Solving but how do you find these again without spending hours looking?
Are there any 'subtitlers' listening?? This new coastal garden is built with dry stone walling - the top as high as the 2-storey house. The soil is imported and water just drains away. It is a HOT garden but can get some strong winds. Any ideas to make use of the walls? There's a small veg garden at the top so I need to grow some veg along with flowers & shrubs elsewhere. The ugly, strong, 3-section trellis is in a protected and warm place near the top- I thought to use for beans and peas. Any ideas would be welcome - I'm used to good old Powys clay hills!
Can I suggest that you start a new thread about your new coastal garden, with something appropriate in the title, so that people with relevant experience see it and can make some suggestions.
This is a 'Welcome' thread, so people aren't expecting real queries on here. To start a new thread click on Forum Topics, then choose the appropriate section, then click on Create New Thread and off you go.
As for 'Quotes' - click on Quote (bottom right of each post when you hover your cursor over it) then click on UnQuote. Then go to your post and click on the " in the toolbar - you should find your chosen quote has been cut and pasted.
Oh, and for a climber on a sunbaked wall I'd choose the wonderful Pineapple Broom (Cytisus Battandieri). I've seen it grown on a sunny wall, trained like a wisteria - it was wonderful and the fragrance when the sun shone on it was to die for
Hope that helps

Dove, thanks for the Broom suggestion. I've been ignoring Broom as it grew on the Powys hills and I wasn't a fan but better that than the awful bracken!
Has anyone else found yellow Harlequin ladybirds feasting on their raspberries? This on top of wasps gorging themselves has left me with about 50% of my normal crop ????. I even found wasps eating my runner beans this year.
