Authenticated Farmyard Manure - is this going a bit far?

PlantmindedPlantminded Posts: 3,580
Whilst transferring my recent delivery of "Organic Farmyard Manure" into the garden, I heard a distinct metallic "Clunk", or could that have been "Clop"?!  May be this is the supplier's way of authenticating the source of the product!  Here's what I found:

It looks like very good quality, there were no bits of plastic, stones, bottle caps or other treats so I feel reassured about the original source!  More labouring this afternoon, what else will I unearth?!

@Plantminded I'm now waiting for you to unearth the owner of that shoe  ;)
  • My father lives in the western US and just lost one of his horses.  Apparently it's common practice out there to haul large animal carcasses to a massive composting area; local farms bring in their manure and Dad said there were mountains of it.  A loader is used to dig into the mountains and bury animals, and the manure helps decomposition move a little quicker.  That said, I'd still have an OMG moment unearthing something like a horseshoe! :D

That sometimes used to happen here way back in the 50s, (although most commonly the carcass would be taken to the local hunt kennels) but thankfully it’s no longer permitted in the UK due to the risk of disease 😨

Clean the shoe and hang it up U wise to catch the luck - or just make a good ornament on your shed door.
