Good idea.  The things we mess about doing in the name of our compost heaps.😀
    Too right.
Bananas that open with the skin intact. I peel them down into thin strips....can't help myself.

I went orf the idea when I read that washing is the order of the day. Here's an idea, let's all send ours to @Chris-P-Bacon

I just chuck 'em in, membrane and all but wow, I feel a bit slovenly now after reading of your dedication @Chris-P-Bacon. There are times when really small grit could be handy so I think it's a good idea too. I might not wash them though.....
..or I have way too much time on my hands... :#

Out of curiosity I made one of those copper tube jobs and got a thermometer that Mike mentioned a few weeks ago and put it into the heap yesterday. It was 15c so will be interest in how things develop.

I've been pleasantly surprised by how much heat is still coming from my bin when I add more material and mix it in. But then, I'm still mowing as the grass is still growing, much more so than usual for this late in November.
Temperatures are going to go down a bit tonight though so perhaps grass growth will slow down now.
Keep us posted with the temperatures @Uff.....

Yes I will @Woodgreen. Perhaps I should have said that exterior temp at that time was 4.6c

    That's impressive.
It's been a beautiful day here, after so many days of rain, it's been good to catch up with the grass cutting before the rain resumes tonight. I hope all our keen composters have been busy today, turning their bins and heaps, especially MikeOxgreen and Wilderbeast who have contributed so much to this thread. I've not got your energy, but you've given me a renewed interest in the whole process.
    Thank you! 🙂
