Mike your initial post was very informative, I really appreciate it. I don't always have time to read multi page threads, so apologies if you felt my question had been answered.
Do twigs have to be dead/dried out to count as brown? I have just pruned back some shrubs ... can it all go straight in as is?
That's discussed in here too. Chipped and crushed woody stuff is one of the best things to put in a compost. One of the main reasons for this thread is to provide a lasting reference, I feel like i've wasted my time, that's what I feel.
That's all very well, @MikeOxgreen, and your post is indeed informative, but not everyone has the time or opportunity to go back twelve pages and read it from the beginning. You're only wasting your time if you're not prepared to be a bit flexible and understanding, and repeat the odd thing for latecomers...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Yes, your twigs can go straight in, they don't need to be dried. They break down quicker if you shred them or cut them up a bit, but you don't have to.
Great stuff. I do have an old shredder from freecycle which I am trying to resurrect. Taken me so long it would have been quicker to chew the bloomin twigs

Blocking doesn't work as it's only partial and one way, otherwise I would have continued to block you. Can you not practice some of your own advice for a change and block me? Please do it. I'm utterly fed up with seeing your constant stream of useless posts. Then I'll Block you again.
@hiacedrifter I tend to collect browns in bins, like leaves, wood chip and sawdust. Like others I add all household waste paper, spam mail, carboard tubes, kitchen paper to the compost and a good deal of cardboard.
@Fire, you mentioned recently that there was no moderation on the forum, the most recent example proves otherwise. M.Og abusive post to me was removed and not because I did it.
