    ..very nice Mikey, I've not heard of it but for a moment there I thought it was 'Venosa Violacea' which I understand is closely related..   I keep meaning to get a 'VV' but now I see yours, this seems a good alternative..  I like the way the flowers are facing outwards and upwards..

    Royal Velours - very apposite!
    Night Veil was supposed to be a Pernille but there was a mix up at the nursery. We liked it so much we decided to keep it!

    Anyone know if there are varieties of clematis that are favourites for bees?

    All of my clematis have always been popular with bees, especially the group ones in spring and the more tulip shaped group 3s.
