Soft bendy carrots are always suspect to me. Why  do Christmas adverts have bendy carrots?  There's another one this year The smiley face makes it worse.

Golly @Ergates, that's not a very good service. And they want people to stop driving and take public transport, fat chance.
On a plus note, we're getting a train service between Okehampton and Exeter .
Our nearest railways station is now only  30 mins away by car. Crazy times :D
    Devon.
  • @Ergates, my parents retired to live in Bovey Tracey.  That was my mum's only real complaint about being there.  Buses into Newton Abbott and back  were only at school and commuter times.  If she wanted to go shopping,  it had to be very early, and the return was less than an hour later or mid afternoon, 3-4 hours later. No buses on Sunday or Bank Holidays. When my father had to stop driving they were stuck, no home delivery service from the big SMs then.

I think I remember seeing a bus come through the village once.

Anyone else had this email from Amazon this morning?

"... Starting 19 Jan, 2022, we will unfortunately no longer accept any Visa credit cards issued in the UK, due to the high fees Visa charges for processing credit card transactions. You can still use debit cards (including Visa debit cards) and non-Visa credit cards like Mastercard, Amex, and Eurocard to make purchases. We’ll give you £20 off your next purchase the first time you set any debit or non-Visa credit card as default, subject to the terms and conditions at the end of this email..."

Huh ... as if they can't afford to pay the Visa handling charges ...  🤯  Well, they were useful during Lockdown but I won't be giving them access to my debit card neither do I intend to take out any other credit cards.  They'll have to try to make their billions without me  👿

I don’t care how many buses or trains we don’t get,  I’d rather live here than in a town.
why do people move to the country then complain of lack of facilities.
Where we lived before we’d see the buses out of Exeter go past us, lucky to see two people on them.  It’s not profitable to run more buses in some areas.
I don’t want busses running pass here every 10 minutes.

And now we are awash with HGV drivers and no bus drivers,  where do people get this info from,  and why does anyone believe this rubbish they try to feed us.
Last month no drivers, this month, not a word, plenty of drivers.

I could curmudgeon for England today.

That's a good thing tbh - terrible company, so if none of their other activities persuade you to boycott them, at least this might!

My curmudge today is the same lousy customer care as my last curmudge, from whoever does TfL's telephone service (and even more the fact that one has to use the phone to do certain tasks that could easily and just as securely be done online, entailing half an hour on hold every time). Curmudgeonly doesn't even begin to cover it.

  • My use of A****n was pretty limited to be fair, but during lockdown it was very useful for stuff that we couldn't get anywhere else ... always checked other sources first.  However, now we can be more mobile and also now that so many suppliers have a good online presence, things are changing ...
