I remember going to see swan lake mostly danced by men. I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t the traditional version until about 2 minutes in.... it was fantastic.

I don't know if you've ever seen the film 'Top Secret!'  It's a spoof WW2 spy movie.  In one scene a line of male ballet dancers appear on stage, back to camera.  They then turn round, and along the line are ever larger codpieces.  If I remember correctly a ballerina then dances across them. I thought my missus was going to have a heart attack.

I went to a live  ballet. I'd only ever seen it on television before. Of course when they jump, they bang on the floor. It was a big shock to me. What a wally!

Loved the Matthew Bourne production of Swan Lake! I used to make an annual trip to the Theatre Royal in Plymouth to see several Matthew Bourne ballet productions. All very powerful, Romeo and Juliet set in some sort of juvenile detention centre, and Cinderella, set in WWII, complete with air raids and Prince Charming as an RAF officer with shell shock. Sadly didn’t get to see the Red Shoes.
Yes, B3, I was also shocked the first time I sat near enough the stage to hear them landing! And to see the panting for breath after a particularly energetic routine!

That's the same theatre where we say his Swan Lake.
We say his Picture of Dorian Gray  too, but that was in Woking. Also wonderful.

  • Surely the real issue here is the missing apostrophe in the thread title?

I've been patiently waiting for someone to say something!
  • @Nanny Beach   Should that not be "Ive been........." in keeping with the title ?  ;)

To be fair, it's easy to slip up when using a keyboard and judging from the posts, everyone clearly understood the thread title.
Annoying it may be but if all we have to worry about is the odd apostrophe going astray, life must be pretty good  :)

Am having a right old job with the phone and everything else, various things like cleaning my teeth, cannot do with my right hand.

You get used to it after a while and by the time you're better, you might even be slightly ambidextrous. 😊
