It might be worth cutting your losses and trying somewhere else. Loyalty has great value to insurance companies. It enables them to charge you more

I compared the Meercats and the cheapest quote was with my existing insurer and agreed with their increase in price. It costs an even larger admin fee to cancel the policy and they only give a partial refund on the premium so I'm stuck with them I think.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Price comparison sites are no longer independent - if they ever were. It's worth checking more than one and having a look to see if Which? has anything to say.

Hmm Meercats are only 4th cheapest apparently. Time to move my comparisons elsewhere...

I had the same thing happen when I changed my car a Toyota avensis for a Ford Focus.
I looked around and found a policy as cheap for the year as the extra would have cost. They didn’t like it when I cancelled but with the money I got back it was cheaper to start a new one.

Loyalty means nothing to must companies these , particularly Insurance renewals , there must be a better way !!!!

Loyalty over insurance definitely doesn't work.  For years I had my home insurance through Lloyds bank and the premium hardly increased at all.  Then a renewal came through with around a 60% increase - I hadn't claimed since a burglary in 1988 so that wasn't the cause.  Checked around and found a quote for half the price, phoned and spoke to them explaining the situation.  The lady went and checked, then apologised before giving me the answer - they would reduce the price by 10%!  Even she said I guess you will be going elsewhere.

I just had the same thing I had to ring my insurers to tell them that the price comparison sites were offering their policy for £20 less than their renewal  & if they didn't match it I would go elsewhere. They know I have moved away before, I only came back because as a "new" customer they were cheaper again. Drives you nuts doesn't it!!
