At last some joyful news! My daughter's friend and colleague gave birth to her daughter on Easter Sunday. My daughter is going to be a Godmother.
As the baby's father is half African and in his tradition Godparents, as well as close relatives, give the child a name, she has been asked to offer one. Apparently, a child can have ten or more Christian names.
My daughter wants something rather special because the child was born at Easter. She thought of Lovejoy but isn't quite sure, so she asked me for ideas.
I like Lovejoy very much, though I've never known anyone called that. However, there's one particularly connected to Easter, which you probably know: Anastasia. It comes from the word Anastasis, meaning Resurrection.
The African custom of many names is interesting. I imagine the child is called by just one of them, though how and by whom is that chosen?
I know they're both "refugees" in France, but even so, would they not be speaking in Greek to each other? I don't think refugees forget their mother tongue!

Any ideas anyone?

I like both names very much. I cant't think of better names than these two. Anastasia certainly has a touch of class about it too!
Perhaps she could enrich the African tradition by giving the baby two names?
