Thyme.  Butterflies and bees absolutely love it.

My long fuchsia hedge is covered in bees and those left out go to the lavender. Can't work near the hedge as I get in their way. The noise from them all is quite something.
  • Verbena bonariensis. I lost count of the bees on it!!

Nepeta Six Hills can look stunning en masse, I think.

They are loving the buddleia here atm
  • The mini Echium bells are by far the most popular plant after the giant echium which are all but finished now.  The Verbena Bon ..... , the sunflowers and knapweed are all a great attraction. In our new wild area there are bees, butterflies and other insects just flitting from one plant to another constantly.
  • My flowering artichokes are very popular with the bees atm. They burrow right inside and look as if they'll get completely stuck but seem to manage to work their way out ok.

A good question and a lot of candidates. Echium Vulgare is a big favourite. Also comfrey, wild marjoram, foxgloves, purple toadflax, valerian and hedge woundwort. Oh and hollyhocks  :)
  • Agastache black adder: It grows everywhere and self seeds without any problem, and the bees just love it.

Busy day for the bees today.  They all seem to be making up for time lost to rain over the last few days.

Interesting divide between species.  Bumbles are all heading to the Veronicastrum (including a bumble with the most bright yellow bands I have ever seen - which I could have got a photo).  Honey bees are getting stuck into the Persicaria.
