Why is my Japanese maple turning brown?

My maple about 18” high planted in the Autumn is turning brown . 4 planted at same time, this is the only one suffering. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The spring sun is very strong and can burn leaves. Shade it a bit.

i did some more research, browning of leaves can be caused if trunk of tree below soil level, bit  of investigation showed 2 cm of soil above root level. This has now been rectified so hopefully tree will be happier.

    Some don't like wind either.

Very true, but with 4 trees planted this is the only one suffering. The trunk looks much drier. Hopefully this will be enough to make a difference.
