Thanks Fire. I feed the soil with a mulch of well-rotted manure each year but nothing more. Most of mine were grown from the seeds of the original two small plants I bought, one red, one white. They are slow growing - those above are about 5-6 years old now.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Flumpy, apple blossom smells like heaven - esp mixed with montana, which is just about to pop in my garden. Clean. Sweet cream. They smell like watching the Flumps on a spring afternoon aged about seven, with the sun out and half term ahead.
Loving the pictures gardens look beautiful bobthegardener , Perki, Victoria sponge and Suesyn over the past couple of pages. Thanks for the comments on mine remember Monty saying if doing a Spring garden go for it no good doing it half heartedly
@Mary370 I do grow wallflowers but most get flattened during winter , might start them off extra early this year and to try and get larger / sturdy plants
I have been looking for a suitable backdrop to cover the dingy fence (can't find a paint colour I like!) Recently I got this wonderful meadow-themed light fabric...for just £3 at a charity shop. Also co-stars a salvaged broken vase and a recently purchased skimmia.
A 'weed' is just a plant in the wrong place - subjective!

My apple blossom is just out yesterday. The best smell in the world.
